Your hearing health is important not only for communicating with the world around you, but for preserving your quality of life as well. At Desert Hearing Care, we understand how crucial good hearing health is. That’s why we offer a variety of hearing tests to help our professionals determine if you have a hearing loss present and the best way to treat your condition.
What to expect
When you visit Desert Hearing Care for a hearing test, we’ll usually start the appointment off by gathering some basic information. Our professionals will ask you for your medical history, list of medications you’re currently taking and any symptoms you may be experiencing. This helps us paint a complete picture of your auditory system health before testing your hearing. Additionally, we’ll visually inspect your ear to see if there are any ear wax impactions or physical reasons you may be experiencing hearing loss symptoms.
Once we complete these steps, we’ll begin hearing testing.
Diagnostic audiological evaluations
To help us determine if you’re experiencing hearing loss, we’ll perform a variety of diagnostic audiological evaluations. These may include, but are not limited to:
- Air conduction testing
- Bone conduction testing
- Speech testing
- Speech in noise testing
- Distortion product otoacoustic emissions (DPOAE) testing
- Tympanometry or acoustic immittance testing
Hearing tests are completely pain-free, quick and simple. The professionals at Desert Hearing Care will use the above tests, or a combination of them, to diagnose your hearing loss. From there, we’ll use the results to recommend treatment if necessary.
Live speech mapping
In the event your hearing tests results demonstrate you have a hearing loss, our professionals will discuss your treatment options, commonly, hearing aids. Hearing aids are incredibly advanced pieces of technology that do not “restore” your hearing, but will be fine-tuned to your specific needs to allow for easier listening in different environments.
One of the professionals at Desert Hearing Care will help you find the right hearing aids based on the results of your hearing test, lifestyle and budget needs. Once you have selected your devices, our hearing care provider will utilize live speech mapping.
Live speech mapping uses small microphones and live speech to tailor your hearing aids to your specific listening needs. This means less trial and error and fewer adjustments at future appointments.
From hearing testing to precise hearing aid fittings, we offer a variety of services to our patients at Desert Hearing Care. Learn more about what we can do for you by scheduling an appointment today.
